Infrared Sauna
SAVE 10% until May 31st with AUTUMN10
At our Ayurveda New Zealand clinic we have a brand new infrared sauna which is available to all our clients who have received an ayurvedic treatment and would like to enhance the healing benefits with sweat therapy, in Ayurveda called Svedana.
Svedana is an important part of Panchakarma and traditionally performed in a sweat box. The patient sits on a chair in a wooden or metal box with the full body exposed to steam apart from the head. Thanks to modern technology we nowadays have infrared saunas which offer an advanced, rejuvenating experience that enhances the benefits of traditional Svedana therapy.
Unlike the traditional sweat box, our infrared sauna uses gentle, far-infrared heat that penetrates deeply into the body, promoting a more efficient detoxification process. The heat helps to release stored toxins, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation, all while allowing for a comfortable and relaxing experience. This modern alternative offers greater precision in temperature control, ensuring a more consistent and soothing treatment. By integrating infrared sauna therapy into our Panchakarma program, allows to amplify the effects of cleansing and rejuvenation for our clients, leaving them feeling more balanced, revitalised, and in harmony with their body.
Whether you're seeking relief from stress, muscle tension, or simply looking to enhance your overall well-being, our infrared sauna is the perfect addition to your Ayurvedic healing journey.
Here are some of the key health benefits:
Detoxification:
The heat from an infrared sauna induces sweating, which helps the body release toxins such as heavy metals, chemicals, and other waste products. This process can help cleanse the skin and support overall detoxification.
Improved Circulation:
The heat increases blood flow, which can improve circulation and oxygen delivery to tissues and muscles. This leads to better overall cardiovascular health and helps to reduce inflammation.
Pain Relief:
Infrared saunas provide relief from muscle aches, joint pain, and stiffness by increasing blood flow to affected areas and promoting muscle relaxation. It may be particularly beneficial for those suffering from chronic pain conditions such as arthritis or fibromyalgia.
Stress Reduction and Relaxation:
The soothing heat of an infrared sauna promotes relaxation by stimulating the release of endorphins, which help to reduce stress and anxiety. It creates a calm environment, encouraging mental relaxation and emotional well-being.
Skin Health:
Sweating from infrared heat helps to cleanse the skin by removing impurities. It also promotes collagen production, improving skin tone and texture, and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Weight Loss:
The increased heart rate and sweating in an infrared sauna can burn calories and contribute to weight loss, similar to the effects of moderate exercise. The body works harder to cool itself, which can result in calorie expenditure.
Improved Sleep Quality:
The calming effect of infrared heat helps promote better sleep by relaxing the body and reducing stress. This can be particularly helpful for people with insomnia or poor sleep quality.
Muscle Recovery:
Infrared saunas are beneficial for athletes or those who engage in regular physical activity. They help speed up muscle recovery by reducing soreness and inflammation and promoting tissue healing.
Enhanced Immune Function:
The heat from infrared saunas can increase body temperature, inducing a mild fever-like effect. This helps to stimulate the immune system, making the body more effective at fighting infections.
Improved Flexibility:
The heat from the sauna relaxes and loosens muscles, which can improve flexibility and range of motion. This can be especially helpful for individuals with stiffness or those recovering from injuries.
Cardiovascular Benefits:
Regular use of an infrared sauna has been linked to improved heart health by lowering blood pressure and improving vascular function. The process of heating the body can mimic some cardiovascular benefits similar to moderate physical exercise.

FAQs

What is Ayurveda?
Since 2010 we have brought the ancient Indian medical system of Ayurvedic health to New Zealand.
“Ayur” means life and “veda” means knowledge or science hence Ayurveda is often translated to mean the “Knowledge of Life”. Although Ayurveda has a history of over 5000 years, its principles are still equally applicable in modern New Zealand lifestyles.
At Ayurveda NZ we look to understand the root cause of an imbalance in order to correct the underlying condition or disease, rather than only treating the symptoms. Focused on maintaining mental and physical health from a holistic perspective, Ayurveda is also an excellent form of preventative medicine and rejuvenation.
The wisdom of Ayurveda encourages individuals to actively participate in maintaining their own good health in alignment with the different stages of their lives, the seasons, and the environment they live in.
At Ayurveda NZ we acknowledge the unique nature of each person and apply dietary, lifestyle, body therapies, and herbal remedies to assist in transformational processes.
Who makes the Sattva Botanicals range?
We do! Our organic ingredients are sourced ethically and blended by our team here in New Zealand to create the Sattva Botanicals products. This is why we can create a custom blend if you need one.
What is a Dosha and why does it matter?
Ayurveda acknowledges the unique nature of each person through individual constitutions (Doshas) and applies dietary and lifestyle adjustments, body therapies, and herbal remedies to assist in this transformational process.
You can find out more about Doshas here, and take the quiz to find your Dosha - or book an Ayurvedic Consultation and be guided through the process with Sarita.
What are the benefits of booking an Ayurvedic Consultation?
Having a one on one Ayurvedic Consult with Sarita means that we can talk about your concerns, identify your Dosha and recommend the treatments and botanicals best suited to you.
How do I book an Ayurvedic treatment?
You can either book a time using our booking app, or if you want to pay now but secure a time later by phone or email, just buy a Gift Voucher for yourself.
Why is my eating style relevant to Ayurveda?
At Ayurveda New Zealand we work with Ayurvedic Medicine, which recognises many causes of disease but stresses the root cause of most chronic conditions arise from imbalances in, or poor functioning of, the digestive system.
Undigested food and improper elimination of wastes accumulate as toxins in the body leading to dysfunctions. This is further compounded by unresolved emotional experiences and stress.
Whether a person is chronically ill or seeking a way to maintain good health Ayurveda has an important role to play.
According to Ayurveda, digestion is a subtle process that transforms food into consciousness.
Can I get a personalised Yoga Programme too?
Absolutely. We love yoga and Sarita can create a bespoke yoga therapy programme to suit you specifically.
